Sports club hydromassage pool

This painting has a construction grid, like the ten of a card; each subject fills one of the spots.

It is inspired by a sacred medieval painting; one of the many with a flat blue background, geometric stars, and symbolic beings aligned in the foreground, such as an eagle-winged child’s face, an elderly person’s face, or apple-eating lizards.

I actually took a long time to find the right subject for this inspiration because nothing felt contemporary enough.

Vietato rullare

Is there an English term for “rullare”? This term defines when someone plays foosball and makes the rods spin continuously.

This is a brainless move that has a powerful but random chance of scoring a point. But since it totally waste the spirit and the enjoiablity of the game, it is forbidden.

In bocca a mamma lupa

In Italian it is the equivalent of “Break a leg”.

In times when internet wasn’t so much enstablished someone give me another interpretation that I liked most. They told me that this way of saying implies fate holding you like mother wolf does with her babies. So the right answer was a simple “thanks” instead of the most common “die the wolf” most people answer.

As I told at that time you generally needed a lan cable to access internet and, since I liked this interpretation the most, I made mine.

Today, to write that, I checked online, and instead of the responses I wanted, Wikipedia told me that this way of saying is actually a dead metaphor totally similar to “break a leg” But I don’t care honestly and I will keep responding “thanks”.

Self portrait (aka Calm Outside)

Painted on the 18th of January 2025.

Is this idea of me similar to how I actually look?

It is both similar and not similar. It is not similar because it is only a partial view. However, I recognize the one in this portrait as “me.”

Screaming inside.

It is strange how much It has been a rage painting. It expresses some of the internal distresses I am living at the moment. Since I had only one canvas panel (and I needed two for the two paintings) I decided to paint over one I was not satisfied with (and I saw nobody opened or liked it on Etsy). I also discovered that the “spatola” (this is the name in Italian for the tool) is called “knife” in English. Also, to paint it, now, I moved away from the easel an incomplete painting that had been waiting to be finished for months.

There is a good omen light at the end of this work. I immediately started writing this description when the paint was over (I am now still in the studio in front of it) and when I tried to write the title “screaming inside” a typo (and maybe the auto corrector) decided to write “Dreaming inside” instead.

The Archer

For those who ask themselves about the unnatural color of the grass, the answer is easy: I wanted to emphasize that sport is the main subject of the artwork rather than the location.

Tigre contro Tigre

The name is an Italian tongue-twister that means: <tiger versus tiger>.

None of them is an actual tiger, but I loved the tongue-twister idea because this artwork can be a tile for a repeat pattern.
