This year I finally understood why Nordic flower illustrations are so different from Italian and French ones.

I was eating a sandwich at the Klosterkroa café on the Hovedøya island when I noted the flowers on the table.

There was a flower so deeply different from any other flower I had ever seen that I realized that I never understood Scandinavian flower illustrations because I have never seen Scandinavian flowers before.

Those in the picture are the flower I have experienced as normal in the place I have grown up.
